You have amazing eyes
The right one’s suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone
I know I never meant no harm at all

Is this wrong or only half right?
You want me gone but I stay the night
When I see you in the half light
It feels so fine
Everybody seems to wonder why
I go right back to you ever time
But I don’t mind
I don’t mind

Cause you have amazing eyes
The right one’s suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone

You’re a little bit broken and I’m a little bit broken
When we put ourselves together, my oh my
And you may not understand it
But something here is working
So I don’t mind
I don’t mind
Could you mind, you’re mine
I don’t mind, don’t mind
Cause you’re mine
You’re mine
I don’t mind

You have amazing eyes
The right one’s suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone
I know I never meant no harm at all
You have amazing eyes
The right one’s suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone
I know I never meant no harm to anyone
I know I never meant no harm at all

Walk across the courtyard towards the library

I can hear the insects buzz and the leaves ‘neath my feet

Ramble up the stairwell into the hall of books

Since we got the inter web these hardly get used

Duck into the men’s room, combing through my hair

When God gave us mirrors

He had no idea

Looking for a lesson in the periodicals

There I spy you listening to the AM radio

Karen of the Carpenters, singing in the rain

Another lovely victim of the mirror’s evil way

It’s not like you’re not trying with a pencil in your hair

To defy the beauty the good Lord put in there

Simple little bookworm buried underneath is the sexiest librarian

Take off those glasses and let down your hair for me

So I watch you through the bookcase imaging a scene

You and I at dinner, spending time, then to sleep

And what then would I say to you lying there in bed?

These words with a kiss I would plant in your head

What is it inside our heads that makes us do the opposite

Makes us do the opposite of what’s right for us?

‘Cause everything’d be great and everything’d be good

If everybody gave like everybody could

Sweetest little bookworm hidden underneath is the sexiest librarian

Take off those glasses and let down your hair for me

Take off those glasses and let down your hair for me

Simple little beauty, heaven in your breath

Simple of pleasures, the worlds at it’s best.

I think the truest way to play this song is on trumpet. My favorite version will always be Arturo Sandoval but Doc’s version is just as good. Louis Armstrong is up there, but definitely behind Ray Charles and Billie Holiday.

This is my jam. I love the brass section. Every time I hear the song, I pretend I’m playing trumpet again and sing the riff. It’s one of my favorite riffs in music.

I wish that I had known in
That first minute we met
The unpayable debt
That I owed you

Because you’d been abused
By the bone that refused you
And you hired me
To make up for that

And walking in that room
When you had tubes in your arms
Those singing morphine alarms
Out of tune

They had you sleeping and eating
And I didn’t believe them
When they called you
A hurricane thundercloud

When I was checking vitals
I suggested a smile
You didn’t talk for a while
You were freezing

You said you hated my tone
It made you feel so alone
So you told me
I had to be leaving

But something kept me standing
By that hospital bed
I should have quit but instead
I took care of you

You made me sleep all uneven
And I didn’t believe them
When they told me that there
Was no saving you

Oh I saw stars falling all
Around her head
Red gold and blue
Sherry Fraser where are you
‘Cause I saw stars falling
All around your head
When we were young
Sherry Fraser where have you gone
We’re all wondering
When will you come back
And play some day.
Sherry yeah
The mad hatter he waits for Alice
To come to tea again
He waits forever for his old lover
And always wonderin’
Will I see stars falling all around your head
When you return
Sherry Fraser what have you learned
And we’re all wondering
When will you come back
And play some day
And please do come back
And play some day
Please do come back
And play some day
Sherry yeah

Take me lightly, I am not the way I ought to be

I’m just the way I got to be

Take me slowly or else you may come by injury

I’ll hurt you emotionally

Rock me baby until my eyes are closed and I’m asleep

And then it’s it for you to leave

Call me lazy for I have yet to let my soul free

It’s still very much in my reach, oh

I just wanted to unfold

Simply simple

I do everything I’m told

Keep it simple

You want babies, well, here I am

So why not aren’t you pleased with a big baby like me?

I throw a fit and you object to pick up after it

Domesticated bliss, ain’t it, oh no

I just wanted to unfold

Simply simple

I do everything I’m told

Keep it simple

Simple, simple

(Yeah, yeah)

I do everything I’m told

I just wanted to unfold

Simply simple

When I was a young boy I had a lot of young boys
And we taught each other dearly how to love
Now that I’m an old hag all I gots are things that sag
But it really ain’t so bad, no, it really ain’t so bad

Look at the neighbors with their long blond hair
Makin’ their money at the Renaissance fair
They live under your dress in a massengilic mess
Singin’ klang, bang, wang, I swear

The neighbors will hear you
The neighbors will hear you
The neighbors will hear you
The neighbors will hear you

A glass eye tends to the garden in your breast singin’
Mama, you’re a dog too dull to bite
My love’s central sun hides her bells in emptiness
I hung the hangman and I ain’t afraid to fight

But he’s gonna get me
He’s gonna get me
He won’t forget me
He’s gonna get me

Well, steal my, steal my face I do declare
This might be a start of a new affair
I’m gonna braid exotic birds in your hair
How can I tell ‘cause I see wildfire everywhere

But that gonna be some, be some

All my thoughts are hairs on a wild, wild boar
Runnin’ slowly down the lilac slope
We’re tryin’ not to scare the sweet prairie hogs
As we descend on them like vultures through the fog

We’re vulpinus vultures
We’re vulpinus vultures
We’re elegant armchairs
We’re vulpinus vultures

Give heals time to wound as we lazily spoon
Bend me over, bend back my bow
And take a little and I’ll grant you every wish
Glue my belly to your gibbous rainbow.
